Conceptual Manmade Island Design

This was a conceptual design for a manmade island, based on reclamation on sea in Melaka harbor. The hypothetically area was 6 acres of land, designed for seafarers, hotels, shops, restaurants bars and recreational activities such as water sport and many other related sea view residencies. Initially the design concept formed a crab shape on the water as you can see in the sketch. I remember it was exactly after the client’s brief that I started working on it. Siting at the seafarer restaurants beach and drew the entire ideational sketch within an hour. I was so excited about this project, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Later on after discussing with the client the idea was transformed to a ship steering wheel. The handles and spokes gave me the idea to position different activities all around the island. I transformed the shape by stretching some of the handles and a lighthouse on the spindle. Each wheel felloe was devoted to a function. We finalize the idea and made 3D visuals of how it will look like.
